DISPOSITIONS
Fort Worth metalcore outfit DISPOSITIONS have always been built for the live environment — heavy, aggressive and constantly moving. I photographed the band in January 2023, capturing a set filled with hard stage light, deep color, movement and the kind of controlled chaos that makes heavy music so much fun to shoot.
These photographs document DISPOSITIONS exactly where their music makes the most sense: onstage, loud and in front of a crowd.
BUILT FOR THE PIT
DISPOSITIONS are a band that give a photographer plenty to work with. There is very little standing still — vocals pushed directly toward the crowd, guitars moving across the stage and a constant physical energy that comes through even in a single frame.
My January 2023 photographs strip that performance down to its essentials: expression, movement, sweat, instruments and the connection between the band and the room. Converted to black and white, the stage color disappears and what remains is the intensity of the performance itself.
For me, that is what concert photography is supposed to preserve. Not simply what the stage looked like, but what it felt like to be standing there when it happened.
